Is how I'm feeling
normal?
Everyone feels differently.
You may feel:
• sad,
• guilty,
• angry,
• lonely,
• alone,
• desperate and as if life is not worth living,
• You may also feel happy or relieved,
• You might not know how you feel,
• You might feel a mixture of these feelings or none at all.
How long might these
feelings last?
Painful feelings will change over time. They may be very strong at first
but usually this gets easier and talking to people may help.
How can I get help?
• Family,
• Friends,
• Neighbours,
• GP (Doctor),
• Any religious group you belong to,
• Community Team,
• Any Services you already use,
• Any support, e.g., Support Staff,
• Local Bereavement service, e.g., Cruse
• Listening Groups,
• Advocacy Groups,
• Samaritans,
• Specialised groups
What might I need to do now?
• You might need to inform all the people who knew the person who
died about their death,
• You may need help with money,
• You might have to move and live somewhere else,
• You need to take care of yourself - who can help you with, e.g.,
shopping, daily routines, eating well, enough sleep.
