Bereavement Support for People with
Learning Disabilities

"Feeling all mixed up and crying. headaches, wouldn't eat" (Dorothy)
We are all deeply affected when we lose someone we love.

After a death, there may be things to think about or choices to make
It is often difficult to let others know how you are feeling. There are people to support you through this difficult time, for example, friends, family or carers.

"The nightmares were horrible - having a friend to talk helps" (Dorothy)

Things you might want to think about:
> Do you want to say goodbye to the person who has died? > Do you want to go to the funeral?
> Do you want to know anything about the death? > Do you want to send flowers?
> Do you feel you need someone to help you with your grief?
> Do you want someone to go to the funeral with you?
> Do you have anything to remind you of the person who has died?
